“Chairman’s Chat” with Eileen Jones, 237847; firstname.lastname@example.org
Once again thanks to Jenny Jerome for all her hard work as Chairman, this is going to be a very hard act to follow, I feel very privileged to have been elected as your chairman, I will endeavour to do my best for the WI in Guernsey
First of all thanks to the ladies of Membership Support for organising the Annual Council Meeting. It was a very good meeting and we had an excellent speaker in Allister Carey on the work of the Eleanor Foundation. This is a very worthwhile cause and I do hope you all enjoyed it.
Thanks also to St John's WI who provided the refreshments, the cakes were scrumptious and also to Jenny Richmond for manning the doors at short notice and to all of you for attending and making it such a great evening.
Congratulations to St Andrews WI for winning the Eisteddfod Shield and GY WI for winning the cup for the most new members.
International organized a walk round St Andrews which was well supported and the weather was also kind to them. As with all WI events there was Tea and Cakes afterwards and the proceeds from the walk went ACWW.
Congratulations to Rhian Tooley on her election to the States and we wish her every success.
Denman needs our help.
Jenny Cottell is organising An Afternoon Tea at the Forest Methodist Church hall from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturday 18th of June. Please come and support this event. Please let Thelma Wheeler know how many tickets are required for your WI so we know how many cakes to make!
We have also enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the office organised by Thelma Wheeler and Maureen McDonald. Sadly this will be the last one of this very popular event as we are shortly to move across to the main building of the community centre, but I am sure a suitable venue could be found for future events.
Let's hope the good weather continues, I hope to meet you all soon.
